Both girls must leave at midnight, one before the spell breaks and one before the last bus leaves. Cinder Edna falls in love with Randolph's brother, Rupert. At the ball, Cinderella and the prince, Randolph, dance and fall in love. Cinder Edna doesn't believe in fairy godmothers though so she takes the bus and uses the money she's earned to get a nice dress. Cinderella has her fairy godmother come and give her a pretty dress and carriage to get there. Both households find out that the prince in holding a ball and want to attend. Cinder Edna keeps a good attitude and cleans bird cages for $1.50 an hour for the neighbors. When Cinderella isn't cleaning, she sits by the cinders and feels bad for herself. Both girls have evil stepmothers ans stepsisters that make them do all the chores in the house. Summary: This book is the story of Cinderella and her next door neighbor Cinder Edna.
